Rock three piece The Basics have announced this morning the release of their new album The Age of Entitlement.
Deriving the title from Joe Hockey’s 2014 budget speech, the album was cobbled together following a demand from fans and industry alike to hear new music from the band following a limited run of gigs.
Bassist Kim Schroeder explains “We honestly didn’t set out to do anything like an album. We’d actually agreed on playing one single ‘welcome home’ gig, but once that was announced, suddenly there was this great hunger for more from people and from that a feeling that maybe we should record some of these new songs we’d been playing, stuff like To Think Of You and Roundabout”.
The Age of Entitlement was recorded in the famed Abbey Road Studios, and is due out Friday August 14.
