Michael Scott’s Scarn dance is topping charts thanks to Billie Eilish

The cast of The Office gave Billie Eilish permission to use samples from the show in her song my strange addiction. Honestly, what’s come out of it is amazing (that’s what she said).

If you’re a fan of The Office, you know that in episode 143, Threat Level Midnight, Micheal Scott (played by Steve Carrell) premieres his action movie Threat Level Midnight to the rest of the office. Now more than eight years after the episode aired, Michael’s film is getting the acclaim it deserves in the vessel of Billie Eilish’s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO?, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts.

Michael Scott’s epic song and dance number the Scarn has finally made it into the Billboard Charts thanks to Billie Eilish.

B.J Novak,  who plays Ryan Howard, told Rolling Stone that Billie Eilish needed the permission of every cast member who’s voice appears in the samples. Along with himself and Steve Carrell, this included John Krasinski (Jim Halpert) and Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor).

“I was fine with it regardless,” Novak said.

“But I was like, ‘Wow, bonus: This is a banger…  One of the funnier meta jokes is that, in Michael Scott’s delusion, of course this would become sampled on a Number One album and done at touchdown end zone dances. You know in Michael Scott’s delusional fantasy this would happen, and in a way it did in the real world.”
