Australian singer-songwriter Blake Rose has recently released his latest EP, showcasing his hopeful and empathetic outlook on life.
Australian artist Blake Rose has returned with his latest EP, You’ll Get It When You’re Older, and it’s a deeply personal project that showcases his growth as a producer and songwriter.
The seven-track collection includes previously released hits like ‘Use Me’ and ‘In Your Arms,’ as well as two new songs that offer a glimpse into Blake’s creative process.
‘Don’t Stop The Car’ is a standout track with its glitchy beat and hypnotic hook, exploring the idea of reaching a breaking point from anxiety and pressure. Meanwhile, the closing track ‘Already Be Dead’ features acoustic guitar and harmonies that harken back to the beachy vibes of the ‘60s, all while tackling the heavy subject of addiction.
The EP’s title comes from a conversation Blake had with his older sister over a decade ago, during a road trip when she was battling drug addiction. She told him, “You’ll get it when you’re older,” and those words stayed with him and inspired much of the project’s subject matter.
Blake’s music has been praised by critics and fans alike for its earworm melodies and impressive lyricism. He recently made his US television debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and has toured with the likes of Dean Lewis, girl in red, Noah Kahan, and Ashe.
Blake has recently been nominated in the ‘Best New Artist’ category at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards. During his visit to Australia last year, he also recorded a beautiful performance of his track ‘In Your Arms’ here at the Happy, which you can check out here.
In a recent interview, Blake expressed his optimistic hopes for his new EP, ‘You’ll Get It When You’re Older’, saying “When you listen to the EP, I hope you walk away with more empathy for others. Try to see all sides of the story to understand the people around you. I’m in a period of my life where I’m trying to be as empathetic as possible not necessarily just with the music, but with the world. I think I’m on the right path.”
Be sure to give his new EP a listen, which is now available everywhere.
You’ll Get It When You’re Older is the follow-up to Blake’s debut EP, A World Gone By, and shows that he’s an artist who’s constantly evolving and growing. With this latest release, Blake hopes to inspire empathy in his listeners and encourage them to try and understand the people around them. It’s clear that he’s on the right path, and we can’t wait to see where his music takes him next.
