Man oh man, it seems to all be happening in Melbourne this weekend! Here’s another thing to add to that long, long list of gigs – Blank Realm, Bedroom Suck’s most enjoyable pop band are heading south to Melbourne to launch Grassed Inn, the latest purple sleeved release from the Brisbane four piece. They’re playing every night this weekend, so feel free to check out some of the other awesome shit you’ve got going on down there. Dang it Melbourne, I’m jelly. Oh, by the way, that White Night thing looks like a SWEET night to go trip balls.
Tomorrow night (Sat 15th Feb), catch them play some sweet advertisement worthy tunes at Boney with Constant Mongrel and Miss Destiny. The former exude similar punk vibes with a very sunshiney sheen, while Miss Destiny are a Melbourne underground supergroup featuring members from Radiant Living, Bitch Prefect, Old Mate, Ratsak, Deep Trouble, Good God, Circle Pit and Southern Comfort. I ripped that list from The Thousands, so I’m not sure if there are any double ups, or whether it’s completely accurate, but if it is, you’re in for a treat.
The night after (Sun 16th Feb), they’ll be venturing to the north side of Bourke Street for a show at The Toff, supported by Ela Stiles (of Bushwalking & Songs), Terrible Truths and Full Ugly. All these bands are awesome, check them out in your own time before the gig.
Next weekend (Fri 28th Feb), the band are making their way up to Sydney to play The Square, which I’ve never had the pleasure of attending. There’s a first time for everything though, and I think the allure of Blank Realm’s pop sensibilities will be just the thing to drag my jaded, cynical butt all the way to the CBD.
Tix are available through oztix ($13 + BF) or on the door ($probably15ish?) – the Saturday show begins at 9pm, while Sunday starts at 8pm.
