Bon Iver announce new album, share two new songs

Bon Iver has announced the release date for their exciting new record i,i.

Due out August 30 via their friends Jagjaguwar, you can be sure that if it’s anything like their last album 22, A Million, it’ll be great.

“The thirteen new songs on i,i complete a cycle: from the winter of For Emma, Forever Ago came the frenetic spring of Bon Iver, Bon Iver, and the unhinged summer of 22, A Million. Now, fall arrives early with i,i.”

On their website, Bon Iver has shared their excitement in expanding their community of both friends and musicians on their upcoming record.

Bon Iver’s indie folk sound is strengthened through the creative collaborative process the band endured when recording the record. i.i will feature artists like Buddy Ross, Francis Starlite, Bryce Dessner, Aaron Dessner and James Blake among other indie-folk and rock favourites.

Yesterday we were all given a tasty first bite of what’s to come with the release of two new tracks of the record, Jelmore and Faith.

Faith especially is a particularly beautiful track that opens to the sweet and welcoming well-known vocals of frontman Justin Vernon, before the song builds to the powerful lyrics “it’s time to be brave.”

“It feels very much like the most adult record, the most complete. It feels like when you get through all this life, when the sun starts to set, and what happens is you start gaining perspective. And then you can put that perspective into more honest, generous work,” stated Vernon about i.i.

You can preorder the record here or take a listen to Faith below.
