It’s a tough gig for bands to garner such huge praise off their debut album, but after Big Thief dropped Masterpiece in May last year, everyone from NPR to the god of music publishing Pitchfork was writing them up.
They’ve been on the road since, taking their honest indie rock to any audience that wants them. This month they’re finally making it down under, and our hearts aren’t ready.
Evocative and wholesome, the downplayed indie goodness of Big Thief is good for the soul. Catch them onstage this month in Australia.
Australia has no shortage of indieheads, so it’s no surprise that Big Thief has captured our hearts as valiantly as they have their home crowd. A more guitar-driven evocation of Julia Stone, Julia Jacklin or and more recently Middle Kids, it’s a style the country has fallen desperately in love with.
