“the greatest live music show ever” is coming to Australia – Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour
British pop superstars Coldplay have revealed that their ongoing Music of the Spheres tour will be returning to Australia late next year, touching down on the country’s east coast for the first time since 2016.
This announcement follows a reportedly stellar pair of concerts held in Perth over the weekend, both of which boasted Thelma Plum and Amy Shark as supporting acts.
Demand for tickets to these shows, held in the city’s Optus Stadium, broke all-time Ticketmaster Australia records upon their presale release this May. Roughly thirty percent of tickets were purchased by out-of-state attendees.
Since its commencement last March, the Music of the Spheres tour has earnt Coldplay the title of Favourite Touring Artist at the American Music Awards, been named Tour of the Year at the iHeartRadio Awards, and declared by The Times as “the greatest live music show ever”.
The tour has exceeded ticket sales of nine million globally.
Since the band’s 2016-17 A Head Full of Dreams tour, Coldplay have worked to cut the carbon emissions of their touring in half by employing a variety of methods; low-energy lighting, biodegradable confetti, and reduced flying among them.
Music of the Spheres has seen a forty-seven percent reduction in the band’s carbon emissions. To offset those that are inevitable, one tree has been planted to represent each of their previous tour’s seven million attendees in various forest reserves.
In 2024, Coldplay will be playing at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on the 30th and 31st of October, Accor Stadium in Sydney on the 6th and 7th of November, and Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on the 13th of November. They will be supported by Emmanuel Kelly and PinkPantheress.
Register at here for access to the ticket presale, which will be available from 10am local time on Wednesday November 29. General ticket sales will begin on Friday December 1 at the same hour.
