Crowded House and Patti Smith announced for Bluesfest 2020

Bluesfest have just released the first round of artists for their 2020 return, despite wrapping their 2019 edition up only four months ago. For the festival’s 31st year, they have pulled out all the stops and will be bringing an array of iconic music legends to Byron Bay next April.

The festival will run from Thursday April 9th to Monday April 13th at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, with promotors promising it will be “the best festival yet.”

The first lineup announcement for Bluesfest 2020 will be headlined by US rockers Dave Matthews Band as well as an exclusive Australian performance by Crowded House.

Headlining the festival is Dave Matthews Band who will be taking the stage for their third Bluesfest performance, alongside punk queen Patti Smith. This also isn’t Smith’s first time on Byron Bay soil, with her last performance Bluesfest scoring her the Helpmann Award for Best International Contemporary Concert. Smith’s spot on the bill comes ahead of her upcoming memoir Year Of The Monkey which is set to be released in September.

Aussie rock heroes Crowded House will also be headlining the festival in an exclusive performance that is set to bring a new chapter to the band’s career. Grammy winner and jazz master George Benson will also be making an appearance for his Bluesfest debut, along with some much-loved Australian favourites such as The Cat Empire, John Butler and Xavier Rudd.

This is only the first lineup announcement for Bluesfest 2020 and there are plenty more acts expected to be dropped in the lead-up. Check out the full list and ticket information below:
