We have been giving Darts a fair bit of love over here at Happy, and for good reason. The Melbourne grunge-rockers have released a string of awesome tracks and videos in the lead-up to the release of the their debut album, Below Empty & Westward Bound – due out May 15th via Rice Is Nice – and their new clip for Aeroplane is no exception.
The clip follows a sullen-faced protagonist as she makes her way through hazy Melbourne streets, battling a flow of pushy bystanders and manic drivers on her way to a party that she clearly doesn’t want to be at. The video features Darts as the glaring antagonists, all who stare down the camera as it feigns away with unease. The director does a brilliant job of capturing the angsty gloom of the track, the camera jittering, falling in and out of focus and catching the dour glow of orange street lamps.
Darts were just announced as the support for Alpine on the Victorian leg of their upcoming tour, squeezed in-between their Melbourne and Sydney album launch parties. Be sure to catch them at a show, but you might want to steer clear of them of the after parties….
