Dekomodo navigates new and exciting territories on Burn The Garden

It’s incredibly difficult to rip your attention away from the music of Dekomodo. The South Brisbane-based artist (real name Sebastian Radzikowski) crafts captivatingly idiosyncratic and discordant slices of experimental post-rock that will simultaneously jolt and hypnotise you—bizarre melodies duck and dive through sporadic rhythms to create something uniquely surreal.

With the release of his new album Burn The Garden, the singer-songwriter has further developed this oddly entrancing brand of music. Albeit incredibly abrasive, we strongly recommend you dive into this record – it’s casually quite brilliant.

On his new album Burn The Garden, Brisbane-based artist Dekomodo crafts a surreal and oddly captivating collection of experimental gems.

All throughout the new album, Dekomodo weaves elements of electronica, punk, jazz, and experimental pop to deliver something entirely his own. With dissonant layers of instrumentation and hypnotically jarring vocal delivery, we guarantee you’ve never heard anything quite like this.

Album opener Hidden immediately establishes the far-reaching scope of the project. Radzikowski flaunts his warped songwriting abilities, delivering a song that sits almost entirely outside of any pop norms. From here, Deep Work and title track Burn The Garden further build upon this uncategorizable sound.

Finding Space is the album’s sprawling centrepiece; a track that navigates so many different sonic territories, you’re likely to be left feeling a little disorientated. Eerie ambience and mordant guitars make this an unnerving but enthralling listen.

By the time the album’s closing track Bricolage reaches its final moments, you’ll be left knowing that you’ve just experienced something new and exciting.
