This week sees the release of the new limited edition API 862 Channel Strip & 2500 Bus Compressor. The launch celebrates 50 years of API’s presence in the pro audio world.

Used in many fine studios all over the world, API’s family of consoles, EQs and compressors have enjoyed a formidable reputation for decades. API 2500

Meet API’s limited edition 50th anniversary 862 channel-strip & 2500 bus-compressor. These golden boys combine the best of API inside two units.

Firstly, the 862 Channel Strip is a combination of API’s 550A Anniversary Edition EQ and the 312 Anniversary Edition mic preamp. The unit features 35dB of adjustable microphone input gain, polarity inversion and 48V phantom power.

3 bands of EQ are also included with 12 dB of boost or cut and 5 frequencies per band. High and Low bands shelf/peak selection switches will also help you dial in the right tone for your recordings.

Meanwhile, the new 50th Anniversary Edition 2500 Bus Compressor provides a vintage style, optimized with several new features. Flexible output mix blending, LED gain reduction meters and premium VU meters are just the half of it.

There’s also API’s patented Thrust filter for frequency-dependent side chain control, 3 selectable Knee settings, preset or variable release time control, automatic or manual make-up gain and variable L/R link.

Both sport gold faceplates and are limited to a 50 unit production run, making them collectors items for the truest of true studio hounds.
