Dolly Parton does some myth-busting and clears up the rumours about her

Southern, glamorous Jolene-singer, Dolly Parton has had to do a fair share of rumour debunking these days.

When asked whether Dolly Parton has an “entire room dedicated to wigs and hairpieces” Dolly replied, “Well I have a closet that has shelves for hair”. The iconic vocalist and composer has her own wonderfully eccentric style, often sleeping with a full face of make-up when she’s on the road and keeping a spare wig waiting for the moment she exists or enters a building.

Fans are pretty spot on with Dolly’s passion for beauty and glamour, but there are a collection of Dolly dos and Dolly don’ts that fans haven’t got right.

Dolly Parton’s myth-busting list

1. Dolly shut down rumours that her breast reduction was due to “Crippling” back pains.

Dolly has a love and passion for cosmetics, aesthetics and plastic surgery, it’s her signature look.

Fully open and shameless, she has admitted to the numerous cosmetic treatments she has had, including breast implants, a brow lift, a facelift, eyelid surgery, chin augmentation and rhinoplasty (a nose job), all contributing to her iconic look today.

However, fans and the media have spun some false facts about how her breast implants were affecting the rest of her body. “There was one-time Enquirer Magazine said that my boobs were so heavy that they had broken my back down and I couldn’t get up, that I was going to be crippled for the rest of my life” she unveiled, explaining this excessive rumour and adding, “well, they are big and they are heavy, but I can still get around…I’m doing alright”

This Queen knows how to handle her big boobies, she’s had a lifetime with them!

2.  Dolly has also had to confirm the existence of her reserved and out-of-the-limelight husband Dean, due to rumours stating he was fake.

Dolly Parton and her husband Dean have been married for 54 years but some fans aren’t convinced that the man actually exists since as much as Dolly adores the spotlight, Dean would rather be as far away from it as possible. “It’s just not who he is,” Parton said. “He’s like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that.” While Dolly enjoys the chaos and constant energetic life, Dean revels in simplicity and peace and they coexist beautifully together.

3. Dolly once had to squash rumours that she was having an affair with her oldest friend Judy Ogle.

Judy and Dolly have been friends for 64 years, meeting when they were little kids. Their parents were friends and they grew up together as if they were sisters. Judy had a quiet nature and of course, Dolly had her outgoing personality at the forefront, it was a beautiful match. They went through school together and spent a lot of time around each other. This information has only made some fans feel more convinced of the connection between them that goes deeper than friendship but Dolly has denied any assumptions that her sexuality is anything but straight.

“People say this because you can’t really have a great relationship with a woman,” she told The Sun. “I’m not gay, but I have so many gay friends and I accept everybody for who they are. People love to talk. People love to gossip.”

4. There have been circulating rumours over the years about her body being covered in tattoos.

It’s a bit odd that people seem to be making rumours about how Dolly chooses to express herself through her body but those celebrity watchers love a bit of detail. Dolly loves to express herself through dazzling, sparkling 50s-70s styled country dresses with lots of tassels and long sleeves. The repeated long sleeves have fans questioning whether she’s covering the tattoos on her body to not “offend” her more conservative fanbase. Steve Summers, Dolly’s creative director of over 29 years insists that it’s her embracing her personal style.

“People always ask why she wears sleeves- well she’s 73 years old, ad she doesn’t like her elbows,” he reveals honestly.

Dolly herself commented that she is self-conscious about some raised scarring on her body which she covered up with tattoos. She explained in an interview with W magazine that she has “…a few tattoos here and there.” She describes her tattoos as not being really heavy or dark and more of a pastel tone. “I’ve had surgeries for different things, and if the scars didn’t heal properly, I just gotta put tattoos to take the sting out” She added.

In other Dolly news, Dolly Parton and Goddaughter Miley Cyrus will be co-hosting the New-years Eve television special, produced by Cyrus and Saturday Night Live showrunner, Lorne Michaels and will air on NBC on December 31. Don’t miss it!
