After comedy writer Matt Oswalt suggested Donald Trump‘s New Years Eve tweet “sounds like something the Joker would say right before releasing a swarm of killer bees into Gotham,” Mark Hamill followed it through.
Star Wars actor Hamill also voiced The Joker in the animated Batman series. In an extremely familiar tone, Hamill reads the tweet: “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!”

Nostalgic yet uncomfortable: if you’ve grown up watching the animated Batman series, hearing The Joker quote Trump is funny yet terrifyingly fitting.
Just as the clock struck 12, Trump posted a New Year’s message on twitter causing a whirlwind of controversy. For many, the tweet was blatantly malevolent.
Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!

After Hamill posted the audio clip, an exchange of ideas flourished between himself and Oswalt. Oswalt posted, “BILLION DOLLAR IDEA: an App that you can feed every Trump tweet into that plays it back in HamillHimself Joker voice. You’re welcome.” Which was responded eagerly by Hamill.
As soon as I figure out how to tweet soundbites, I’d LOVE to. Nobody writes better super-villain dialogue than #Trumputin! #KremlinCandidate https://t.co/jjVyRzWl7v

Hamill is best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film series but is also a plenteous voice actor, maintaining the role as The Joker in the animated Batman series since 1992.
