Angela Rose Interviews DULCIE

Angela:  How do you feel you’ve changed since releasing your first single?

DULCIE: Our music is heading progressively into the world of pop! We’ve experimented with vocoder effects, distorted synth lines and arpeggiators on this one so its overall sound has something new to bring. You can expect lots of harmonies and a similar arrangement to previous releases though!

Angela:When do you feel the most inspired to create?

DULCIE: Usually after going to a live show or a festival! We always get so hyped up after seeing our favourite artists play live and want to channel that into our own creativity as soon as possible!

Angela:How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard you before?

DULCIE: We would describe our sound as indie-pop with lots of harmonies!

Angela: Who are some of your biggest inspirations (musical or otherwise)?

DULCIE: We’re big fans of artists like May-A, Holly Humberstone, Phoebe Bridgers, Tate McRae, Slow Pulp and Cate.

Angela: What would be your dream collaboration?

DULCIE: Our dream collaboration would definitely be Harry Styles. His music is so influential and inspirational. After watching his show on his “Love On Tour” tour, earlier this year, we fell more in love with his music/style.

Angela: What has been your proudest career moment so far?

DULCIE: We’ve had the pleasure of touring with some incredible Australian artists like Ocean Alley, Amy Shark and King Stingray and been fortunate enough to play at festivals like GTM and Laneway. It’s been such an exciting journey and we are so thankful for opportunities like these that allow us to share our music!

Angela: What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

DULCIE: Your success isn’t measured by how others see you, but by the fulfillment you get from pursuing your dreams.

Angela: What can fans expect from your performance at ICEBREAKER Festival?

DULCIE: We’ll be playing some new and old songs + get ready for some dance moves!!!

Angela: Who are you most excited to see perform at ICEBREAKER Festival?

DULCIE: There are so many incredible artists playing ICEBREAKER it’s hard to choose! We toured with Tyne-James Organ back in 2020 so we’re really looking forward to catching his set again! His stage presence is so captivating and we love his music so much!

Angela: What are your plans for the rest of 2023?

DULCIE: Definitely new music and more live shows! We’ve got a few festivals to look forward to including Icebreaker Fest, Out of The Woods and Spilt Milk + you can catch us live supporting Boy & Bear and Ocean Alley this October!

DULCIE Interviews Angela Rose

DULCIE: How do you feel you’ve changed since releasing your first single?

Angela: I think that I have improved so much with finding my sound and have really grown as a songwriter!

DULCIE: When do you feel the most inspired to create?

Angela: For me it really just comes and goes randomly. Sometimes I have to pull over if I’m driving when an idea comes to get it down or make voice notes while I’m doing my groceries, but other times I can sit down at a planned writing session and something just clicks! So I just make sure in those fleeting inspired moments I make time to honour the creative idea as best as I can in the moment.

DULCIE: How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard you before?

Angela: I would say that my music is a mix of indie, pop, rock, and a bit of country too! I would describe my songwriting as honest and often tells a story, which is what I love most about music.

DULCIE: Who are some of your biggest inspirations (musical or otherwise)?

Angela: I am inspired by so many iconic women in music, like Stevie, Dolly, Miley, the list goes on haha! But I also would say my sisters who each pursue their own creative dreams, and I am inspired by all of them so much.

DULCIE: What would be your dream collaboration?

Angela: Dream collab as of right now, and I mean unrealistic big dream hahaha, would be Miley Cyrus! Such a queen, I have grown up listening to her through all of her eras and I just love her whole approach to the industry.

DULCIE: What has been your proudest career moment so far?

Angela: I’m so proud of the music I’ve released/am releasing this year as I feel it is my best work so far!

DULCIE: What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Angela: Someone very close to me reminded me recently to celebrate the little things in life, it’s always so grounding to just be grateful for your morning coffee, the sunshine, laughter with a loved one. Small mundane life moments are truly special.

DULCIE: What can fans expect from your performance at ICEBREAKER Festival?

Angela: My set at ICEBREAKER is going to be an acoustic vibe, me and my guitar, playing my songs as they were written. I feel like it will give listeners an intimate insight into my music, but also will just be a super nice and chill way to start the festival day before the party fully sets in!

DULCIE: Who are you most excited to see perform at ICEBREAKER Festival?

Angela: I’m really excited to see Tyne-James Organ! I’m such a fan of his music but have never seen him live, so I’m super keen!

DULCIE: What are your plans for the rest of 2023?

Angela: I am releasing a new single on August 24th called Late Bloomer (which I might sneak in to my Icebreaker set hehe), but I’ll also be doing alot more writing and working on my craft to continue releasing music :)
