It seems that season three of Rick & Morty is making headlines with every new episode. Just a few days ago it was reported that an original song called Terryfold from an episode from a few weeks back was streamed so many times it actually hit the Billboard charts, twice.
Despite how epic that was, this week’s episode topped it: the Rick & Morty theme song got a metal makeover in a special post-credits sequence.
This week’s episode of Rick & Morty featured a death metal version of the theme song, arranged and recorded by musician and producer Jason Suecof and drummer Alex Rüdinger.
As SPIN note, Jason Suecof – a prolific musician and producer (Trivium, August Burns Red, The Black Dahlia Murder) – is a fan of the show and recorded the track with drummer Alex Rüdinger in Suecof’s Audiohammer Studios last year.
Rüdinger is also widely respected in the metal world, having played with bands such as Ordinance, Conquering Dystopia, and Threat Signal. He revealed on his Instagram that the track was made “for fun” last year:
Suecof also Instagrammed about the track, taking a screenshot of a Tweet Rick & Morty creator, Justin Roiland made about the track.
