Finally, The Avalanches have dropped Frankie Sinatra, their fist single in 16 years

Fans of The Avalanches the world over have been waiting with bated breath for 16 years as countless rumours flew left right and centre about the band’s sophomore album. Since I Left You was the group’s first and only full length album.

Frankie Sinatra is as inventive as The Avalanches get, while remaining catchy, infectious and damn funky. It’s everything we expected and much more.

Released in 2000, Since I Left You was critically and commercially acclaimed and is regarded by some as one of the finest Australian albums of all time. The band’s undeniable and irrepressible electronic invention has endured for over a decade and has garnered unprecedented buzz for a band with such a small catalogue.

Today however, fans the world over were blessed with the release of Frankie Sinatra featuring rapper, Danny Brown and MF DoomThe track opens with a 1930’s sounding sample that blends seamlessly with Brown’s oddball flow.

With one of the most infectious beats to have been conceived in the past decade, Frankie Sinatra probably isn’t going away any time soon. It’s a tongue in cheek throwback to that golden age of jazz, with bounding off-beat hits and bellowing tuba bass lines. There’s even a little Sound Of Music reference in there, just to cap it off. The track is hyperactive and utterly infectious.

The band have also announced an upcoming album in the form of a teaser trailer on Facebook and, suffice to say, the internet is going mad.

This chorus will overtake your mind for a long time and The Avalanches’ boundless invention never seems to let up. Frankie Sinatra is everything we wanted and more.

Have a listen and get lost in the chaos.
