Flume wants to do a #coronacollab and Charli XCX might be down

Flume, a national hero, is starting a movement of music-making from the comfort of his very own pyjamas. Amidst urges to self-isolate and prevent the spread of COVID-19, the artist refuses to let the industry suffer.

“Who wants to corona collab?’” he asked on Instagram, adding some coronavirus-themed hashtags alongside a photographic representation of what is officially named the “information desk man” emoji.

Flume and Charli XCX collaborationIn a hilarious Instagram post, Flume has issued a call out to his fellow musicians to collaborate from the confines of their own homes.

The electronic artist received dozens of replies from other musicians offering to join forces. Halsey responded “send beatz,” whilst Miguel teased “check your email.” Diplo said he was “taking a bid scooter over.”

Yet perhaps most exciting was when Charli XCX replied with “So bored,” to which Flume shot back, “I’ll send u the files.”

Other noteworthy responses came from MGMT, Snakehips, Hayden James, Japanese Wallpaper, Broods, Clairo, and Cub Sport.

The only other post tagged #coronacollab so far is a dirty tissue from a violin teacher from Florida, but we have high hopes.

Following 2019’s mixtape Hi This is Flume, the artist released The Difference last week with US singer-songwriter and producer Toro y Moi.

In an interview with Apple Music, Flume confirmed he’d be releasing an album this year. “I’m trying to do, like, a beat a day or two ideas a day,” he said. “I’ve kind of got the blinders on, head down. And yeah, so hopefully put a record out this year.”
