It was last year, with the release of their first string of tracks, that we were first introduced to the captivating folk sounds of Brisbane duo Treehouse Letters. Since then, the band have stepped up the quality of their recordings and refined their songwriting, developing a sound uniquely their own.
With the release of their new self-titled EP, the two-piece continue to establish themselves as one of the most promising emerging acts in Aussie folk. If you’re not already familiar with this name, we strongly recommend you change that.
On their new self-titled EP, Brisbane-based two-piece Treehouse Letters craft a sprawling slice of immersive indie-folk brilliance.
Throughout the new EP, Treehouse Letters (made up of pianist/vocalist Ethan and guitarist/vocalist Dominic) glide through a spell-binding blend of folk, alt-rock, and indie-pop to craft a sound that feels simultaneously stripped and expansive. With layers of lush instrumentation and heartfelt vocal hooks, they create vast sonic landscapes within each of their songs.
Made up of just guitar, piano, and vocals, one could easily expect Treehouse Letters’ music to feel thin, but the opposite is true. There’s a density in every sound they produce; the result is something that will blanket your body completely.
These are still early days for this Brisbane two-piece, but judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality tunes.
