Light in weight but not in quality – the NTG5 from RØDE

The NTG5 is RØDE’s new lightweight super-cardioid shotgun mic. The microphone aims to save the arms of boom operators worldwide at just 203mm long and 76g in weight.

RØDE have taken a giant step in terms of innovation and design to deliver a natural, crystal-clear sounding microphone for a multitude of on-location scenarios. Rode NTG5

The NTG5 is RØDE’s new portable lightweight location recording kit. Packed with a swag of grips, cables and shields – the NTG5 ticks all the boxes.

The NTG5 employs a design inspired by the recent TF5. It replaces the linear slots found on other shotgun microphones with new groundbreaking circular acoustic ports. This change yields unmatched acoustic transparency, and a natural, uncoloured sound that will sound superb in a wide variety of applications. The mic has a highly directional super-cardioid polar pattern and frequency response of the mic has been tailored for low self-noise of 10db.

The NTG5 features RF-bias technology and conformal coating to keep it protected against adverse weather conditions. The new aluminium design also makes it tough as nails and as light as a feather.

The microphone comes with a complete recording kit, including the new WS10 windshield, a redesigned pistol grip and cables for connecting to cameras and recorders.
