Fresh off the release of their new single, we caught up with LOLA for a chat

If you haven’t already immersed yourself in LOLA’s brilliant new single Deep Soul, stop what you’re doing and go listen to it now. The track isozzing with silky and sensual tones that we guarantee you’ll be unable to resist.

So fresh off the track’s release, we caught up with frontwoman Mikala for a chat.

With an irresistibly silky new single fresh under their belts, we caught up with Scandanavian outfit LOLA for a chat.

What is the origin story of LOLA?

I had the idea of creating this project based on an alter ego for some time. Over the summer in 2017 I had a writing session and this half finished song about a made up girl called LOLA was the start. Shortly after I met Olle, our producer, co-writer and bassist in the group and I had heard about him from friends around town. Basically we met at a random gig and I asked him if he wanted to work on some music with me in London, as my uncle who lived there told me we could stay there and work on music for free. The chemistry and workflow was so natural and easy that shortly after we came home we decided to do this as a group. Pretty soon we realised that we needed a third member and when August joined as guitarist it felt like the group was complete.

What are your plans for 2020?

Our main focus is touring and promoting the upcoming EP. And just being consistent with releasing music and visuals and connecting with our audience. Playing and performing our music live is one of the things we love the most and is the best way to get to know us as a band. If you could collab with any artists, who would it be?

Oh wow, I could name at least a 100, but at the moment we are really loving Smino, Chance the Rapper, NAO, H.E.R., Mura Masa, SZA, Ari Lennox, Monte Booker. We’re generally really big fans of anything coming out of Chicago and London at the moment.

Deep Soul is available now. Listen here.
