GC OConnor muses on fleeting entanglements on enrapturing new stoner-soul single, Love On High.
GC OConnor has shared the official music video for her debut single, Love On High. Produced by Sydney duo The Goods, the single brims with jazzy, neo-soul energy, as anchored by OConnor’s hypnotic vocal performance.
Drawing on a range of influences from alternative R&B to soul, Love On High weaves a rich sonic tapestry in what can only be described as stoner-soul resplendence.
Behind the microphone, OConnor’s rich timbre recalls the likes of Duffy, complimenting the sun-drenched tune without over saturating it.
Lyrically, Love On High sees OConnor reflect on the revelry of short-lived romantic affairs, which come as result of “years of chasing the dance floor,” she explained in a press statement.

OConnor continued: “This track speaks to… the brief elation of fleeting entanglements. All I took to the studio was the guitar, the hook and words on a page.”
Love On High is accompanied by a new music video, which traces OConnor as she bike-rides through deserted plains and traipses lolling hillsides.
Directed by Georgia Haynes and produced and edited by Guilherme Toscano, the dazzling clip proves OConnor’s chops both in the studio and in front of the camera. Watch the full video for Love On High below.
A multi-instrumentalist and composer, OConnor leads the charge of Australia’s new wave of neo-soul maestros, fusing the staple textures of the genre with something altogether more modern.
