Melbourne garage fiends Going Swimming are a fun bunch. Their debut record Deadtime Stories took on the theme of a Goosebumps novel, complete with scratchy vocals and a spooky uncertainty of which new directions the record would unfurl.
That was last year. Earlier in October the four fellas dropped the first taste of their upcoming sophomore LP in a single named Debt Collector, which saw them branch out from their usual DIY production style.
If you’re fans of all things garage, surf and scuzz, you’ll be in friendly territory with Going Swimming. Catch them soon as they gear up to take their vitriolic live show around the country.
While Going Swimming have always recording and produced their tunes themselves, Debt Collector saw the band team up with Rohan Sforcina (Dune Rats, Gold Class) and Ash Briody (Empat Lima, Sugar Fed Leopards), resulting in a surfier vibe than ever before.
Their upcoming shows, dryly coined the Swimming in Debt tour, kick off this Friday in golden Ballarat. Dive right in.
