Ghettosunrise

When I visited Ghettosunrise’s soundcloud I thought I had made a mistake, and accidentally stumbled upon some alternative “Ghettosunrise” (theres gotta be more than one in the world). But that was not the case – this band have two records – one is boppin’, sunshiney reggae. The other, a fusion of drum&bass and dubstep. Two completely opposing sounds that left me confused. I like it though; I appreciate when musicians can move past whatever genre they have built their band on and transcend those label barriers.

The sound I was enjoying the most was the former – their One Drop Love EP, 6 tracks of feel good, classic, smooth-rollin’ reggae. With amazing track names like Ghetto Love and Music of the Streets, it showcases what NZ has over Australia – that cool, smooth, sultry thing. As far as I’ve experienced, Aussieland doesn’t have much of that sensuality. So hit play below and lap it up.
