Melbourne sextet Alpine have dropped a suspicious amount of good news on this, the first day of April, with the release of a brand new single, aptly titled Foolish, along with a spanking new clip. They have also announced the release date of their forthcoming album YUCK which they also have announced is available for pre-order in vinyl or deluxe CD. So…is this Christmas or April Fools Day?
Foolish is the first taste of YUCK (due out on June 12th), the follow up to Alpine’s widely adored debut A is For Alpine. A beautiful track inspired by South American pop, it’s textural and warm with meticulous harmonies and super tight production (the album was co-produced by Dann Hume who has worked wonders with Sticky Fingers and Lisa Mitchell). The lyrics are an exploration of lust, vanity, attraction and the ego – delivered with pop playfulness and pristine clarity that is pretty damn irresistible.
The video is an incredibly playful blend of animation and live action, directed and animated by Melbourne’s Tristan Jalleh. Have a look below:
If you pre-order the deluxe CD version of Yuck on iTunes you will get a free digital download of Foolish, or order a vinyl and get a tote bag with Alpines super sweet pre-order bundles here. Fans are probably wetting themselves with excitement and thankfully, this isn’t a prank. We aren’t that cruel.
