Presents? We love presents! Happy is proud to announce that in conjunction with Rics Bar and Various Artists, we’ll be presenting a super cool double header to close out the festivities of BIGSOUND 2014 on Friday the 12th of September. Yep, that’s THIS FRIDAY and it’s FREE!
Happy Presents: BYE BYE BIGSOUND, featuring Sydney’s Nova and the Experience and our absolute fave Owen Rabbit. How good does that sound?
Kicking off the party will be Nova and the Experience, who have been making inspiringly kickdrumtastic indie music since the dawn of the 2010′s. Many of you may have discovered them after trying to find the now infamous (read: life changing) leaked pictures as part of The Fappening, stumbling across their music video and single for Jennifer Lawrence.
The video (below) was inspired by, and I quote, “[Jennifer Lawrence’s] apparent honesty about who she is… a great role model for lots of people. I imagine someday her name will probably become a ‘classic actress’ name like those of ‘Grace Kelly’ or ‘Audrey Hepburn’.” Oh what a difference it would have made on the integrity of that quote if Jennifer had changed the password on her iCloud… Anyway, before I find myself launching into a tirade of hypocrisy and vague social justice like the rest of the tards informed observers on the internet, let’s briefly distract ourselves by moving onto the second act of the evening.
Who is none other than Owen Rabbit! If you’ve been following our hectic schedule of posting new and amazeballs music, you might have picked up on the fact that we’re pretty keen on the Perth via Melbourne beatsmith, whose unique mastery of the various acoustic and electronic facets of his performance have got us in a big ol’ trance. If you missed him on his recent tour through the nation’s capitals, this is your chance to see the Leporidaean experimenter play out his craft in the flesh. Or the fur, perhaps.
Also that night, Ric’s Bar will be hosting rock and roll heavyweights Kingswood out in the backyard, so make sure you head down to Fortitude Valley early for this one to avoid the JJJcore crowd. As we may have mentioned, this badass event is absolutely free and kicks off at 8:00 with Nova And The Experience and Owen Rabbit at 9:00.
