Happy’s guide to the Easter long weekend: getting out of town

The Easter Long Weekend is right around the corner, so why not escape the rat race for a change?

This golden weather won’t keep, so we’ve put together a list of things you can do to soak up autumn’s splendours across a sweet, sweet four days off.

Bluesfest

This year is the 30th anniversary of Bluesfest, so why not head up to Byron Bay and celebrate with the likes of Iggy Pop, Jack Johnson, Paul Kelly, and Kurt Vile and The Violators?

The event runs from Thursday April 18 through to Monday April 22. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, you can find some through the link below.

Hit the beach

We hate to sound like your mum here, but now is your last opportunity to enjoy a warm beach day before the colder weather comes crawling back. In Autumn the water temperature is near perfect, so soak it up while you still can.

There are some criminally underrated beaches between Sydney and Wollongong – you should give Coledale a go if you’re looking for a place to start.

Hire a van

There’s something magical about opening your bedroom door to a new location each day. If you don’t own a van, they’re super easy to hire. Pack a surfboard, a camera, and your absolute best playlist, then go and drive one around with some mates.

Kombis 2 Go offer Kombi hire for Sydney and surrounds. Might as well look swish while you’re jetting around, right?

Plan that trip

Ok, this isn’t actually getting away on the Long Weekend, but it’s the perfect opportunity to go see a travel agent or knuckle down on some flight research you’ve been procrastinating. Sweet sweet deals come to those who spend that tiny bit of extra time.

While you’re soaking up the time off, take the first step towards your dream getaway. STA Travel are pretty much the go-to for jetting about on a tight budget, suss them out at your local store or check out what they can do online:

Adventure time

It’s true, a long weekend can be a primo time to put your feet up and relax, but it can also be an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone. Take the extra days off to do something you’d never otherwise do, like speed down a wild river or jump out of something really, really high.

RedBalloon always have a ton of deals going on their adventure experiences, from skydiving to abseiling, even a ‘Tree Surfing and Beer Tasting Adventure’ this Easter Long Weekend. How could you say no?
