Here are some of the Record Store Day events happening around Sydney

Rejoice! Record Store Day is finally upon us, and along with all the special edition records slated for the release today, there are a bunch of cool events happening across Sydney.

If getting your hands on new vinyl isn’t reason enough to hit up your local record store today, the parties are. We’ve put together a little list of some of the stores hosting special events for Record Store Day.

Special Record Store Day releases, giveaways, DJ sets, BBQs, and huge discounts on vinyl; here are some of the events you can’t miss this Record Store Day.

Something Else Record Store

Something Else Record Store in Newtown has all you electronic enthusiasts out there well and truly covered. There’ll be live DJ sets throughout the day, as well as giveaways and crates of new and secondhand vinyl.

What’s more, all vinyl is 15% off, and the the team at Something Else Records have said there have a “little surprise later in the day.”

Mojo Record Bar

Mojo Record Bar have put together a jam packed weekend to celebrate Record Store Day. To start, they’re doing great deals on vinyl. All new vinyl will be 1o% off, old vinyl will be 20% off, and hundreds of selected records will range from 25-50% off (this excludes 2019 Record Store Day releases).

ERRR Magazine will also be doing a a showcase, with free live music from 5pm. Here are there set times:

H. Fanning and The Seagulls – 5pm
Cosmic Vibratons  – 6pm
Our Little Devil – 7pm

The Record Store

The Record Store in Darlinghurst loves a party, and you’re invited to join. Here are the set times for the Record Store Day DJs they’ve got on:

Dj Ya Know? Check! – 11AM – 12PM
Nat James – 12PM-1PM
Merph – 1PM-2PM 
Tornado Wallace – 2PM-3:30PM
Kato & Ben Fester – 3:30PM – 6PM

What’s more, they’ve doing a turntable giveaway thanks to Audio Technica, Yulli’s Brews are serving complimentary ales, there’ll be a free BBQ at midday, and of course, a whole heap of new vinyl.

The Velvet Frog

Katoomba’s The Velvet Frog is housing way more than just limited edition Record Store Day releases. They’re curating special stock from some amazing private collections, which include some elusive Australian releases, reggae, rock, ska, metal and alternative titles.
