The Infants – Low Rumble

Known for their distinctively eerie vibes and humble beginnings, The Infants are a lot like the hazy, trippy nightmare you can never seem to get out of your head (but would never want to!) As Triple J unearthed accurately announced of the Melbourne based quartet: “This is house of mirrors music”. And we are loving what we see (err, hear).

The Low Rumble may sound a little different to The Infants you’re used to, but have no fear, this new take on the raw stylings of the Melbourne four-piece is bound to impress.

Consisting of the lovely coos of Blaise Adamson manning the piano, the steady beats of drummer Jack Normoyle, as well as the blaring chords of guitarist Anthony Morse and bassist Chris Morse, this curious band are finally starting to get some well-deserved attention.

With producer Archer Moore having a very heavy hand to play in The Infants’ latest EP Low Rumble, the sound varies from what previous fans may have seen in prior EP’s containing sweet, Infant mayhem.

The Low Rumble EP includes the songs Halves, Only Forever, Ape, and Stranger– all of which are entrenched in raw elements of a deep, grounded undertone. Throw in the whimsical vocals of Blaise and you’ve got yourself an understated EP whose songs actually compliment each other holistically.

Differing quite a lot from their prior self entitled EP The Infants, Moore’s creative influence and direction is evident here as he takes the band into the complexities of a deeper and more profound sound.

The Infants are also currently touring ‘a little bit here and a little bit there’ this fine September, specifically:
