Big man bucket-hat sporting rapper Alex Wiley has got some real talent. Hailing for Shicaagow (Chicago) this dude can spit. Backed by an independent label, Closed Sessions, in his hometown, Alex Wiley has caught the attention of many. Full disclosure, this guy is white. But still gangsta anyways.
Busting rhymes like he was born to. Alex Wiley can do no wrong. Bring on the badass gangsta rap.
He has a way of expressing his lifestyle, emotions and battles through carefully selected words*. From blowing smoke to growing pains, this guy channels it all into a funky blend of hip-hop sound, electro and sometimes rocky mixes. I feel like the more his beard grows, the stronger his raps will get.
The album cover image for this recently released mixtape Village Party is a technicolor work of art, and a little trippy. With much success with his previous mixtape, this album does not disappoint.
Going through the mixtape, the track Vibration is killer. It contains a sick hip-hop beat which I’m really digging. I can totally imagine this track pumping seedy, sticky and sweaty trendy hip-hop clubs. It’s a real party when this song kicks off. His on-point rapping with the mix makes for an infectious tune. Vocals are raw and rhythm works well between samples, hits and crashes. Makes me want to drive an Audi in the street, doors open at 10kms/hr acting all gangsta and shit.
He also has a really cool video for Own Man with flickering old television sets. The bucket hat also makes an appearance.
He shows off his wordsmith talents in other tracks such as Splash Game and Village Revival. Dark at times Alex Wiley still manages to drive it home within the marching beats and hooks. The synth work are sweet jams in it of itself and are very well produced.
Definitely give this guy a listen.
