Seize the time. Jean-Luc Picard returns in Star Trek: Picard.
He’s left Starfleet, and after watching the new trailer, we’re left wondering… why? The new TV series is said to recommence the sci-fi adventure many years after we witnessed Picard take the helm of the USS Enterprise.
The trailer shows us a vivid, beautiful, Picard family vineyard, as the female voiceover asks “Tell us, why did you leave Starfleet, Admiral?”.
In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Stewart explained that he was planning to turn the Picard role down, but was won over by the script.
“I agreed to a meeting with the people who were going to produce this new version of Star Trek only because I wanted to seriously and respectfully explain to them why I was turning the project down. I heard just enough to realise this was something very unusual, and I was intrigued. What I was afraid of was … this was going to be jokey, and I didn’t want to do that.’ I asked a lot of questions and the answers were all very satisfying.”
In one of 2019 most highly anticipated series’ Star Trek: Picard is set to premiere later this year via CBS’s All Access Streaming Service.
