One of the most inspirational breakout acts of 2017, Kardajala Kirridarra weave together songs for the earth, their culture, and for the women with whom they share the power of creation.
Kardajala Kirridarra, the winners of our inaugural Needle In The Hay competition, have pressed their debut album to vinyl for the first time.
Last year, the very first Needle In The Hay competition filtered many hundreds of entries into 20 finalists. When those finalists were passed along to our judges Jake Stone, Julia Wilson and Magoo, Kardajala Kirridarra’s album soon emerged as the winner.
The grand prize was 250 12-inch pressings of their album on vinyl, courtesy of Zenith Records in Brunswick. Now, those pressings are available for the whole of Australia to enjoy.
Given they’ve already won our biggest ever competition, there’s little more we can say about Kardajala Kirridarra which hasn’t been said. Theirs is simply an album yourself, and the world, needs to hear.
