Keaper share new album ‘Waking Dream’, announce Australian tour dates

Keaper deliver their most robust effort yet with Waking Dream, a concept album driven by experimental instrumentation.

Keaper have today (March 8) released their new debut album, Waking Dream.

Carried by blissful shoegaze and driven conceptually by the narrative of a character’s dream, the 12-track project marks the Melbourne band’s most ambitious — a feat which pays off in spades.

Waking Dream brims with achingly beautiful vocals and layers of reverb-drenched, experimental instrumentation.

Speaking of the concept behind the album, vocalist Ameya said it’s “… told through the eyes of a character that is exploring an unknown world in her slumber.”

She continued: “Each song relates to a different location on the map of this world and step of the journey.”

The resulting tracklist sees Waking Dream read like a hero’s journey, tracing moments of inner transformation (Alone), climactic resolution (Atonement) and adventure (The Painting).

The album was mixed by guitarist Austin del Rio, and recorded over the course of two years. “It was an incredible experience that we enjoyed every moment of,” Ameya said of the album creation process.

Coinciding with the release, Keaper have announced plans for their imminent Australian tour,  where they’ll hit the road with a series of shows across Victoria and South Australia over the next two months.

The 13-date tour includes a stop at Keaper’s very own festival at Melbourne’s Bergy Bandroom on March 23, co-headlined by the likes of Franky, Lady Fern, and Paradise Valley. Find details about Keaper’s upcoming tour here

Waking Dream adds to Keaper’s already hectic few years since their formation in 2020. The band’s debut EP, Duality, arrived in 2021, with its follow-up Fade gracing airwaves in 2022.
