Kyle Maher has continued to develop his sultry sound and delivered the smooth tropical goods once again with his latest single Serenity.

Darwin singer/producer Kyle Maher is splashing into the Aussie music scene in a big way, having earned himself a spot on stage at the Airlie Beach Festival alongside the likes of Killing Heidi and Smashmouth in 2018.

Serenity is the fourth single from the up-and-comer and exemplifies the rapid development of his sound, from the chill bedroom soul vibes of his debut in 2017 to music more influenced by modern hip hop.

Serenity is a clever amalgamation of an aromatic array of genres, yet Maher has brought them together to form something that is distinctly his own. There’s a clear hip hop foundation to the song, built upon by the addition of clean RnB production that sounds really big despite the minimal layers.

Lyrically, Serenity is conversationally sassy and sexy and definitely makes us want to be his queen. As the story progresses, the chorus changes to “it’s up to you,” and loses the aggression and tension of the verse, showing a sensitive side and progressing the story in a relatable and endearing way.

The hook opens up into a beautiful reflective space with uplifting piano and twinkling synths that truly capture the essence of serenity, while the chorus is reminiscent of a sexier smoother side, reflecting the heat of the tropics. The way the guitars work throughout really gives the whole song a summery vibe that will help you cling onto the holiday season.

Overall Serenity is meticulously crafted, from the story to the production. Maher’s sensitive and vulnerable vocal style is simply the icing on the cake to this great song.
