Learn production and beatmaking from Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda in lockdown

Like many artists around the world, Linkin Park and Fort Minor‘s Mike Shinoda has been keeping busy whilst in isolation.

In a series titled CoronaJam, the musician has been posting videos of himself conducting songwriting and production tutorials – and they’re super insightful.

Wanna learn production and songwriting from one of the greats? Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park and Fort Minor has been hosting online quarantine tutorials.

In the first video, Shinoda gives a lesson in beat making, whilst the the next one sees him doing a “hybrid theory-style demo”. Then he gets into some genre-based songwriting, composing a ’90s hip hop track followed by an ’80s song in the style of Depeche Mode.

Not only are the videos helpful for anyone wanting to learn more about production, beatmaking, and songwriting, it’s also interesting to see how a multiple platinum recording artist works.

Shinoda is also taking requests on what he should cover. He’s live streaming the videos on Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, and Periscope, and posting updates on his Twitter. Check out some of the other tutorials below.

In other news, a bunch of rock and metal bands, including members from Megadeth, Alice Cooper, and Anthrax, have been offering free online guitar lessons.
