Leuras presents her dream rock inspired debut EP, South Van Ness

Blue Mountains native Leuras presents her dreamy debut EP South Van Ness; a reflective amalgamation of influence and experience

Recorded at Hyde Street Studios in San Fransisco, Leuras presents her heavily inspired debut EP South Van Ness, a six track exploration of the melancholic textures of dreamy alternative rock.

Formed during pandemic in 2020, Leuras is ready to continue her musical journey on home soil. After a string of shows across California, South Van Ness comes on the heels of Leuras’s return move to Sydney.

With the aim of continuing her musical journey in more familiar territory, South Van Ness is a major step in Leuars’s growing career.

Opening with a sparse instrumental track Womerah Lane, Leuras sets the tone for a moving and immersive listen.

Coming in at only eighteen minutes in length, South Van Ness runs smoothly into itself. The title track introduces Leuras’s airy, lilting vocal.

With the Mazzy Star influence front and centre, South Van Ness is darkly seductive. With a chorus that glows with familiarity, there’s a soothing nostalgia to Leuras’s melody and tone.

And uplifiting resolution to an uncertain chord progression leads almost directly into the highlight of the EP, Your Weight.

Built on a bed of classic rock guitar and full piano chords, Your Weight is a rational reflection upon the demise of a relationship.

With the country rock fusion of Sheryl Crow and the delicacy Julia Jacklin, Leuras hits a sweet spot. Shining with her melodic interpretations and song structure, Your Weight has a sense of completion about it.

Sullen though confident, Your Weight is a perfect example of Leuras at her best.

Little Man leans into the softer classic rock side of South Van Ness, while Like A Dream lives up to its name, bringing forth the reminiscent dream-rock energy that Leuras so expertly channels.

Closing with Here We Are, Leuras brings subtle drama to the final act. Delicate and loose drums, sprawling guitar solos and diaphanous vocals round out South Van Ness, while also giving it the distinct feeling of beginning again.
