Carla Wehbe has shared her new single You Make Me Sick, offering her first taste of music since the acclaimed sophomore EP JUPITER AND MARS.
Carla Wehbe has released a new single, a dreamy indie-pop cut titled You Make Me Sick. Co-created by Kon Kersting — who has elsewhere worked with the likes of Tones & I, Spacey Jane and The Jungle Giants — the addictive new single features a helping of 80s nostalgia and catchy pop hooks.
You Make Me Sick sees the rising Australian star ruminate on the shedding of toxic relationships, forefronting her distinct vocals for reflections on being “better without you” and feeling “like shit.”
The single is a worthy encapsulation of Wehbe’s proven knack for irresistible pop melodies and universal storytelling. “It’s really quite versatile,” Wehbe said of the single in a press statement.
“You can dance to it, hype yourself up to break up with a toxic partner, go to a smash room and destroy things.” The single arrives in the midst of Wehbe’s ongoing national headline tour, which will see the Sydney musician perform headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as well as serving as the support act for The Chicks’ shows in the two latter cities.
Alongside The Chicks, Wehbe has also shared the stage with the likes of Peach PRC, Gretta Ray and EGOISM, and stole the spotlight during her music spotlight at Sydney’s first-ever SXSW.
You Make Me Sick marks Wehbe’s first taste of new music since her sophomore EP JUPITER AND MARS, which arrived in March of this year. Earlier this year, the singer performed the EP’s title track live from Happy Studios.
“I’m just so excited,” Wehbe later told Happy of her imminent headline tour, which kicks off in Melbourne on October 27. “[My fans] have never seen my band, full set, playing songs.”
