Listen to Prince’s previously unreleased solo piano demo for ’17 Days’

In June, it was announced by the Prince estate that a previously unreleased live album, titled Piano and a Microphone:1983, will be available for listeners this coming September. One of the tracks from it, 17 Days (the B-side to When Doves Cry) was released this week and is now available to stream.

Recorded at his home studio in Minnesota, Piano and a Microphone: 1983 captures one of Prince’s solo rehearsals and features Prince singing and candidly giving off-the-cuff directions to stage directors.

Piano & a Microphone 1983 is a nine-track, 35-minute album featuring a previously unreleased 1983 home studio cassette recording of Prince at his piano. The announcement came with the release of Mary Don’t You Weep, which was featured on Spike Lee’s latest film BlacKkKlansman.

Now, his solo piano version of 17 Days has been released, too. Take a listen below.

Piano and a Microphone: 1983 will be available on CD, LP, deluxe CD and LP, digital and streaming formats from September 21.
