In Wyoming, a few words from four-term senator Mike Enzi has sparked a stunning show of widespread solidarity in the form of mass tutu-donning.
It’s a lesson we should all learn from: what do you do if your typical, anti-LGBT, run-of-the-mill, victim-blaming senator makes a foolish comment about cross-dressing? You shove it back in their face, and hold a giant, sparkly mirror up to their ignorance.
Citizens of Wyoming are undertaking a tutu powered protest in response to the ignorant comments of longtime senator Mike Enzi.
“I know a guy who wears a tutu and goes to bars on Friday night and is always surprised that he gets in fights. Well, he kind of asks for it.”
Nice one, Enzi. According to Upworthy, he’s talking about Sissy Goodwin, a local crossdresser who has, in fact, been assaulted over his choice of attire.
While the problems with Enzi’s statements are obvious, it’s the people of Wyoming’s reaction that bears mentioning here. Check out some of the photos from the #liveandlettutu protest below.

Enzi has since apologised for his statement.
