Singer-songwriter John Legend and American Idol producer Simon Lythgoe are teaming up to bring music-based reality TV show Love at First Song to American screens.
The show will pair two singers together , who “virtually” rehearse a romantic duet together before meeting for the first time during a live performance of a song. The couples then go on to live together, practice together, perform and compete together, however, they may swap partners . The show’s format will be based off a similar version that aired in Vietnam and originated from South Korean entertainment company CJ ENM.
Love At First Song, an American reality TV show produced by John Legend and Simon Lythgoe, is going to be an interesting hybrid of music and dating.
In a statement, Lythogoe said:
“Having worked on some of the biggest reality singing competitions in the world like ‘American Idol’ and pop stars, this is the first format I’ve seen in a decade that’s a unique hybrid having all the right ingredients to be a huge international success. And more importantly, ‘Love at First Song’ has the potential to launch the next great duo like Tim & Faith, Sonny & Cher or Jay Z & Beyoncé.”
We’ll soon find out if these emotional performances have the potential for long lasting love.
