PREMIERE: Love Victoria Bitter? Sink an ice-cold tinnie with Jo Vertigo and his new love-letter to the green demons

Victoria Bitter is the third single from Jo Vertigo’s upcoming EP, the very aptly named Songs to Drink Beer To. The debut from the beer-chugging Melbournite is due out in October, and also includes the hits Melbourne Bitter and Fosters.

Similar to the tasty tracks which came before it, Victoria Bitter is – as the name suggests – the perfect song to accompany a green demon.

Victoria Bitter from Jo Vertigo is the sunny love letter to Australia’s highest selling, working-class tinnie. For a hard earned thirst…

Vertigo opens the song excitedly with “it’s been winter for six months…”, a sentiment we can all get on board with. Surfing with mates, staying up late, knocking back a few cold ones – this song is an authentically Aussie jam.

The catchy, longing-for-summer lyrics were written to be belted out by an adoring crowd. Paired with simple yet headbanging guitar and drum rhythms and some seriously raspy vocals, this track will easily find a home on stage at your favourite summer festival, blaring out the windows on your way to the beach, or even through the speakers at the MCG.

Vertigo joins the team at Side Stare Music, an independent record label and booking agency based in Melbourne and wholly staffed by music makers. Alongside other top-notch Aussie acts the likes of Bears and The Deloraines, it’s looking like a very promising project.

Songs To Drink Beer To is shaping up to be the ultimate love letter to a coupla frothies. With the warmer months looming, it’s hard to imagine it won’t serve as the soundtrack to every backyard beer-pong tourney, Sunday sesh and poolside brewsky all summer long.

We’re looking forward to what else Jo Vertigo can crack open from the Songs To Drink Beer To case. Toohey’s Old? Reschs? Whatever the recipe, we can assume the next brew, and all to come in the future, will be as tasty as Victoria Bitter.
