Major Lazer fans, this one’s for you. If you are familiar with Major Lazer’s self-titled cartoon series, you’ll be stoked to know that the whole first season will be released to stream in full on Youtube today.
If you’re not familiar with the cartoon, drop what you’re doing and get around it, it’s wild.
The Major Lazer cartoon originated from the iconic comic-style drawings which have fronted various Major Lazer releases through the years.
It’s set in a post-apocalyptic cyber-Jamaica wherein despotic overlords of the New-World-Order are preventing the youth from mashing up de dance. There to save the day is our recurring cyborg protagonist who centers as the show’s freedom fighting superhero.
It’s startlingly reminiscent of the feature-length film, Interstella which Daft Punk produced the soundtrack for alongside some brilliant sci-fi cartoon visuals set in cyberspace. Inject this with the voices of Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, John Boyega and J.K. Simmons and a whole lot of Caribbean cyborgs smoking stacks of weed, and you’ve got one hell of a cartoon series.
The cartoon which first aired via the FXX network in 2015 has only seen bootlegged snippets make their way to Youtube, so this comes as big news for the Youtube bingers among you.
Diplo has hinted that there could be a second season of the cartoon series in the works, not to mention the release of what could be the trio’s final album.
