After sharing his debut solo single back in November last year, Marcus Whale has released a new track, titled My Captain.
My Captain is the first offering from Whale’s upcoming debut album, Inland Sea.
On the meaning behind the song, Whale explained “In My Captain, I’m singing about being transformed, to be reborn in the face of a colony based on dispossession, hierarchy and control. I want my queerness to reject the heteronormative forces that govern us, now and from the past. Against this background, My Captain is my hymn to the power of queer resistance.”
Inland Sea is due for release in June this year via Good Manners Records/Caroline. In the meantime, you can catch Whale launching his new single on March 25 at Red Rattler in Marrickville.
