Marvel wants you to design their next tee, and they’ll give you a handy $10,000 for it

Like musos, artists, photographers and a slew of other professionals in the creative industries, it can be tough to get a break if you’re a graphic designer. You’ve got to keep your ear to the ground for opportunities, whether it’s the right person to meet, the right collaborator to hook up with or the right competition to enter.

If you’re into the latter, we’ve got something for you. Marvel Comics have thrown together a design comp with clothing brand Uniqlo, and they’re looking all over the world for a couple of designs to smack on a run of t-shirts.

Entry is free… got anything up your sleeve?

Want your design thrown on a tee repped by Marvel Comics? Start sketching, you’ve got a month to enter as many times as you like.

The comp is called UTGP, and it’s been running for a few years now with content giants the likes of Disney and Nintendo. Each iteration sees thousands of entries whittled down to a selection of ten or so winners, at which point they form a series of tees which Uniqlo distributes the following year.

UTGP 2018 is sure to be their biggest yet. There’s no shortage of Marvel fans in the world, that much is for sure.

The competition is pretty open, and there’s room to breathe for entrants. The design needs to include a Marvel character obviously, and it has to be an original work. There’s a definitive list of characters you can sketch up right here.

Winning will get your entry onto a tee that will sell, frankly, a shit ton of units. You’ll also get a handy $10,000. Not bad for a free-entry comp.

Enter UTGP 2018 here. You can enter as many times as you like.
