We sat with MORGXN and got an exclusive insight into the project, and the heart behind the music, follow along for our chat with the Nashville star:

Happy: What are you up to today?

MORGXN: Today I went to pick up a denim outfit my stylist and costume designer Cybelle made. Had a meeting with a music friend of mine. And made food with my boyfriend.

Happy: Tell us about where you are from? What’s the music scene like in your neck of the woods?

MORGXN: I’m from Nashville TN. It is obviously known as a music city. But I grew up with normal parents not in the music industry. So I didn’t really know what was going on in this city till I was older.

Happy: Describe an average day?

MORGXN: Me and my boyfriend usually make coffee for each other. I play the piano and listen to music most days. I’m really into slowing down right now when I can. So I’m cooking a lot. Looking at our garden with my boyfriend. Really I do a lot of slow sweet sensitive things because I find the world harder than ever to navigate.

Happy: What about your ultimate day?

MORGXN: Ultimate day ends in a beautiful concert. Most of the day would be to reach an equilibrium and then play music for beautiful humans.

Happy: What did you listen to growing up that fuelled your passion for music?

MORGXN: I started taking voice lessons when I was 9 and I’m grateful the teacher introduced me to stevie wonder and Luther vandross as well as Pavoratti and other styles of music. I think that’s what I love most. I’ve never been someone who set out to make music that sounds like someone else. I’ve just been working to make my voice come through and find what that is.

Happy: Coming from the vibrant music scene of Nashville, how has the city influenced your sound and artistic development?

MORGXN: Similar to my answer above I think it’s about trying new things and honestly leaving home and being gone inspired me. Coming home and making this record has been transformational. I made the record of my dreams and I made it in my hometown.

Happy: Your latest offering, “Young & In Love,” explores the journey of self-discovery and the power of falling in love. What inspired you to write this song, and how does it represent your personal experiences?

MORGXN: Well I used to have a label that asked me why I never wrote any love songs. I don’t really write what I don’t feel. Sometimes I think songs are like little premonitions. And I wrote this song before meeting the man I’m with now. As I worked on this song and showed him versions of it- it became clear I wanted to capture the exuberance of our love in a song.

Happy: Your music seamlessly blends indie sensibilities with pop charm. Can you share some insights into your creative process and how you achieve this unique sonic experience?

MORGXN: I really don’t aim to place a genre box around what I create. I wanted this record to have real instruments playing the whole thing so I think that’s a big part of the sound and the energy you hear and feel.

Happy: Can you share any recording insights/stories behind the process behind “Young & In Love?”

MORGXN: I wanted to have this record feel different than anything I’ve done before so the best part was recording the band on these songs. Players like Aaron sterling and tony lucido who between the two of them have played on so many important records.

I think hearing them genuinely feel excited about the songs was important to me. Recording the choir of my friends at my producer Ruslan Odnoralov’s house also felt special and again – full of real energy.

Happy: Your music has been recognized and acknowledged by notable artists like Billie Eilish. How does it feel to have your work recognized and appreciated by your peers in the industry?

MORGXN: Success and the meaning of success has shifted a lot for me in the last few years. I’ve done things I’ve never thought were possible. But I’ve also felt so low that I think about quitting a lot. But the recognition of people like Billie just means a lot – like a nod to keep going. And keep creating.

Happy: In just two years as an independent artist, you have amassed an incredible 200 million streams. What do you attribute to this remarkable achievement, and how has it impacted your career?

MORGXN: Good music and a big desire to fight for it. It’s hard to know there’s like 100,000 songs being released a day. I spend too much time on everything so I just put a lot of love and grit into the release of the music.

Happy: With your forthcoming album on the horizon, what can fans expect from your music in terms of growth and new musical directions?

MORGXN: I think you will hear my whole heart on this album. The good and the low and everything in between. The band makes the album feel so alive – not made in a box. I don’t know how it will do but I know I’m very proud of making it.

Happy: What makes you happy?

MORGXN: My dog. My boyfriend. My music
