Sydney’s indie music scene has always thrived on that gritty, go-hard-or-go-home vibe, and it’s hitting some serious highs lately.
Our fresh new video series, Mullet Moments, showcases artists who live and breathe this ethos and then some.
Sydney’s own Salarymen, named after the hardworking ethos of Japanese blue-collar workers, have just dropped their killer EP Day By Day.

In the last year, they’ve gone from strength to strength—showcasing at The Great Escape 2024 and even selling out their first-ever UK gig in Edinburgh. They’ve toured nationally with heavyweights like Royel Otis and San Cisco, made waves at SXSW in Austin, scored a slot at one of Australia’s biggest festivals, Lost Paradise, and stole some hearts in the crowds in Tokyo and Osaka on their debut Japan tour. This is shaping up to be their biggest year yet.
Salarymen are constantly refining their unique blend of indie, rock, psych, and pop influences, plus they’ve shared the stage with artists like The Lazy Eyes, Eliza & The Delusionals, and The Vanns, to name a few.
But Mullet Moments isn’t just about the music—it’s also about balancing business with a good time. Mullet Wines is jumping in with their fresh lineup, including the cheeky Hard Chardy and Hard Sparkly. Their motto? “Party at the back, business at the front.”
Sipping on some Hard Gris, Renee shares, “Coming off the back of a sold-out EP launch, this is what we call success in the current cossie lives!” With more music and a wave of live dates on the horizon, their momentum feels unstoppable.
Just like the classic mullet, Salarymen and Mullet Moments are all about that mix of fun and focus—impossible to ignore. Whether you’re looking for your next favourite band or a new go-to wine, you’ll find both here.
Keep up with Salarymen on Instagram, and big shoutout to Mullet Wines for keeping the business sharp and the party rolling.
