The crossover nobody asked for: ‘My Little Pony’ and ‘Transformers’ are joining forces

Friendship in Disguise is the banger of a title for a new comic book crossover planned between IDW’s My Little Pony and the Transformers.

We get it, My Little Pony and Transformers combining is a whole heap to process, you’re feeling a lot right now. This is normal. Take a deep breath, your feelings are valid. Happy, horny, angry, or just plain confused? Join the party as we drop into this clusterfuck of a situation.

Transformers are Soundcloud rappers of the comic book world – they’ve dm’d pretty much everyone for collabs. Which brings us to My Little Pony/Transformers II. Because of course this is the second iteration. My Little Pony/Transformers II is going to be a four-part miniseries from writers James Asmus and Sam Maggs, and artists Jack Lawrence and Casey W. Coller.

The crossover follows the events of MLP/T I where Queen Chrysalis cast a spell looking for more changelings and accidentally interfered with a malfunctioning Cybertronian Spacebridge, transporting the Autobots and Decepticons into Equestria. MLP/T II naturally sees Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie sucked into Cybertron.

The writers have promised a darker tone, which actually sounds hype af. The first crossover played off the cutesy nature of the MLP universe against the Transformers, where the huge bots frequently had to dig deep within themselves to find the power of friendship.

Here’s hoping that this second generation finds the ponies being forced to find the inner, spiritual power of massive artillery.
