The Melbourne recital centre is continuing its hot streak of amazing live performances with a show from acclaimed singer-songwriter Nakhane announced for March.
Nakhane features as part of the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Season One: Horizon concert series, which features an incredible lineup of music legends, singer-songwriters, electronic pioneers, and super folk groups.
From now until March, you can experience the best music Australia and the World have to offer encased in the concrete perfection of the Melbourne Recital Hall.
Acclaimed South African singer, songwriter, actor, and novelist Nakhane is one such musician.
Celebrated for their incredible vocal tones and inimitable style, Nakhane is set to mesmerise the Melbourne Recital Hall’s Elisabeth Murdoch Hall with their polyrhythmic wall of sound and unique blend of South African Gqom and Kwaito.
The performance will be Nakhane’s first in four years, having recently returned to the scene with their new single Tell Me Your Politik, a track that features ferocious rap from fellow South African artist Moonchild Sanelly and guitar work from the legendary Nile Rodgers. Tell Me Your Politik is a powerful and erotic call to action, boldly declaring that sex is a political act.
It’s another insightful release from Nakhane, who has an extensive and culturally significant body of work in music, film and literature that challenges the status quo in conversations about gender and sexuality.
