Nana Klumpp serves and tours new single, ‘Back On Track’

Nana Klumpp packs an infectious melody and a breezy attitude as they go on tour for their single, Back On Track.

Newcastle/Port Macquarie-based four-piece, Nana Klumpp has returned to the scene with a platter of definitive rock and roll and alternative pop, with a side of infectious melodies that roam rent-free in your head. With a breezy mindset, Nana Klumpp anchored notions of ambition through their latest single, Back On Track which came out on November 11.

With four years of playing together under their belt, the boys have collected various fragments of influence from bands such as The Clash and Thin Lizzy to Aussie acts like Ocean Alley and The Delta Riggs.

With incredible experiences such as opening for acts like Lime Cordiale, Ruby Fields, The Vanns, Death By Denim, Bootleg Rascal, Peach Fur, and playing stages like Festival of the Sun, Rolling Sets, and Spaced Out Festival, these boys are killing it over and over.

Triple J host, Declan Byrne confirmed this by stating “how can you not be happy when nana klumpp are passing round stuff like this. Ocean Alley and Lime Cordiale fans take note!” They seemed to leave a good impression on him.

Their first-ever tour sparked into action on November 19, as they jumped on the road and played their music for Byron Bay fans. Tonight, they’ll be in Brisbane at the Felons Barrel Hall for a free show, so Brissy music lovers hit up the joint. Nana Klumpp has been all about playing live shows this year, and their official tour up and down the east coast to celebrate their new release will be an exhilarating experience for them and all those that get to watch!

In the single Back On Track, a sense of voyaging and morphing through emotions and situations are apparent through the collision of solidarity in the drums and the immersive and expansive lead guitar. The vocal cadence twists and collapses within the electric melody in a crispy, feather-light approach, as if it is crawling from the gutters of despair. The rumbling guitar bends through as the bassline affectionally punches.

Declan Byrne weighs in again on Nana Klumpp’s sound: “It’s like skating along a beachside path that weaves and winds around the headland. It’s coastal, and I can hear some early Hockey Dad in there, as well as the coastal warble of Ocean Alley.”

With a smooth yet fierce energy, Nana Klumpp’s Back On Track bloomed as lead vocalist, Jesse Hinder was singing alone in his car and then the demo was recorded on GarageBand. “It’s like I was writing a note to myself, trying to break away from my bad habits and start living the life I wanted to” Jesse expressed.

Through a mix of home recordings and studio sessions, the boys wanted to bring the crowd-favourite single to life. The track was recorded and mixed by producer and engineer, Caleb De’Athe, who has worked on their other tracks. De’Athe and Nana Klumpp are in the thick of working on the band’s sophomore EP, which will include songs the band have been playing at their live shows this past year.
