If you’re looking for music that’s a mixture of sensual, seductive, bubbly, and charismatic then look no further than Pirra!

Jess Beck, James McKendry and twins Cutis and Jeffrey Argent are the foursome that forms Pirra. They have been performing together for six years however weren’t always known as Pirra. Originally performing under Beck’s name, the band changed their moniker to what it is today in 2012 during the creative and production process of their self-titled EP. They expressed that the name change represents the collaborative input, by all members into the songwriting and direction of the band.

PIrra something has changed

Smooth as hell, and seductive enough to inspire some serious baby making, four-piece Pirra have the makings of a brilliant band on the rise.

Whilst working on their self-titled EP, they teamed up with producer, drummer and guitarist Jerry Spieser. Known for his work in the iconic Australian band Men at Work, Spieser aided the group in the creation of the EP which launched the band’s new look and sound into the music world.

With a deep bass and sultry tone, Something Has Changed is the latest single for Pirra and was released at the end of July. The track has a great Kimbra influence to it that you can easily imagine yourself sitting inside a city skyline building with a glass of red in hand, looking out over the night lights as rain drops cascade down the glass.

Together Pirra have performed over 1,500 shows not including others performed separately, so needless to say that they are quite comfortable on stage having played festivals like Woodford Folk Festive, Spirit Festival, Freshwater Saltwater Festival, Festival of Pacific Arts and Homeground Festival. When speaking with Music NSW, the band spoke about their favourite aspects of festival; “A ready made crowd, genuine music lovers, out for a good time. We also find that the sound is usually pretty darn good and the gear is amazing. Traveling and camping out is all a part of the fun too“.

With so much live show experience under their belt, seeing them play live is not something you’ll want to miss. The artistry, musical pleasure and showmanship from Pirra can all be experience with their Something Has Changed single launch tour. Supported by Creature Kind and Amelia they kick off in Sydney on September 3 and will make their way up the east coast to finish in Bowraville on October 3.
