Olivia Newton-John dies, aged 73

Olivia Newton-John, star of Grease has died at the age of 73, following a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

After a 30-year battle with breast cancer, Olivia Newton-John passed away yesterday (August 8) at her ranch in southern California. According to reports, the beloved Grease actress and singer of chart-topping hit, Physical died “peacefully” whilst surrounded by family and friends.

The tragic news was confirmed via Newton-John’s official Facebook and Instagram pages. The announcement read: “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

It continues, “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”

Since her passing, tributes have poured in from stars and fans worldwide, including a touching dedication from none other than her Grease co-star, John Travolta. The actor posted the following statement on his Instagram page: “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much.”
